Internships at Cornwall Film Festival usually last for three months and take up either two or three days a week. We’re looking for interns who can work as much as possible, so the more time you have the better. Whatever the internship role, we’re looking for energetic, proactive people who are adaptable and show a willingness to get stuck in. You need to be passionate about independent film, and must want the opportunity to make a real difference to the independent film movement.
You should be comfortable using computers and the internet, especially social networking platforms and basic office software. You should be creative, motivated and have excellent communication skills. A high standard of spoken and written English is required and any marketing experience is advantageous though not required. We will expect you to demonstrate some experience in dealing with calls, meetings and emails and in junior level office tasks, as well as the ability to work independently. Please note that due to Health and Safety considerations, all applicants must be aged 18 or over.

Internship Roles

Courses, Festival & Journalism

You will be maintaining our online presence and expanding Cornwall Film Festival Social Media reach, as well as helping organise CFF courses & events. Part of your job will be to edit/correct past pieces as well as write new content for the website, the newsletter and possibly for press releases. You also have the opportunity to help out on, and attend, any of the courses we run. This involves admin tasks such as booking attendees as well as hands-on experience setting the rooms and equipment up, welcoming attendees and assisting tutors.
You will need to be highly organised, determined and IT literate, with the ability to work well unsupervised and with excellent communication skills. Creativity, determination and excellent communication skills whether that be via email, over the phone or in person, are very important. Social Media experience (Facebook and Twitter users) is preferred, and some marketing experience would be useful, although not necessary. You must have a fluent and interesting writing style, as well as good subject knowledge of the filmmaking, cinema or the independent film industry.

We need someone to work on the hours of footage we have from our festival, competitions and other events! Your work will mainly involve editing a variety of videos, lectures, interviews and panels. You will also help with shooting and editing promos for courses and events, as well as material for this year’s festival!
To fulfill this role you need good editing skills and experience. You will need to have your own computer with editing software on it. The platform you edit on doesn’t matter, as long as you can work quickly, methodically and in an organised manner through the footage. Shooting / on-set filmmaking experience would be beneficial, though not necessary!

Although you will be in your own internship role, you’ll also get the opportunity to work on a huge variety of projects in different departments and at all levels, from running jobs all the way up to taking control of a project to see through to completion.
