Screen Actions

Screen Actions is the extraordinarily talent-rich youth bash that has sprung up beside its parent event, the Cornwall Film Festival. Growing at a staggering rate year upon year, this festival does what all the others try to.... it makes a school trip extremely cool. Organised BY young people FOR young people.

As you may have heard or read by now, drastic cuts in government funding are impacting the planning and delivery of arts events across the UK.

The Cornwall Film Festival therefore has decided to delay Screen Actions until at least January 2011.

We are, however, optimistic that the CFF is in a good position to obtain a fresh source of significant arts funding specifically aimed at young persons in Cornwall. If this funding is awarded to us – we’ll know sometime in late September or early October – it should allow us to plan the next Screen Actions event in mid- to late January.

While the delay will be disappointing to some, such a scenario would allow the CFF organisation to focus on first delivering the main Festival in November (5-7 at the Phoenix Cinema in Falmouth), and then fully concentrate on creating an unforgettable Screen Actions later in the winter. This would also give everyone plenty of extra time for one of the best activities of all: filmmaking!

We still plan to offer activities and films geared for young persons at this year's Festival. Remember, stay in touch with all our news via the CFF website:www.cornwallfilmfestival.com.

Screen Actions 2009 went off with a bang with over 500 young people and adults taking part in the activities. A variety of workshops and screenings meant that there was something for everyone and it was a fantastic day for all.
