Film clubs are a brilliant way to involve a wide cross-section of the community in film by making it very accessible. C-Fylm helps community groups to run film clubs in various parts of Cornwall. Filmgoers must become members of the overall C-Fylm club and this enables them to see a wide variety of programming on a subsidised basis.
If you want to learn about the scheme, see how it’s set up and run, come to Gwithian Church Hall, Churchtown Road, Gwithian on Thursday 19th November at 18.30 for a special screening of:
The Big Blue (Le Grand Bleu)
Dir Luc Besson | 1988 | France, USA, Italy | Action/ Adventure/Drama
Magic and mystery infuse the narrative of this wonderful yet tragic tale of love and friendship, of hope and despair, of life and death. It is an unforgettable journey in the estranged mind of an unusual human being, Jacques, whose obsessive fascination with the sea and strong connection with dolphins prevent him from leading a ‘normal’ life on earth. The interruption in his secluded aquatic life of an old childhood nemesis and of a passionate woman subjects him to strong emotional conflicts as he feels unable to belong in the human world.
Director Luc Besson is famous for his imaginative visual technique and breathtaking action sequences and this a stunningly beautiful film, featuring gorgeous underwater photography and spectacular location shooting in the French Antibes, the Greek islands, Peru, and Taormina in Sicily. Organised with Gwithian Residents Association.
