Another Country
2009 winner announced -
Love Child by Daniel Wirtberg scoops up the £1000 cash prize!
‘Another Country’, the Cornwall Film Festival’s international short film competition, returns for a second year in 2009, showcasing outstanding films from around the World. Cornish audiences will be among the first in the country to see a selection of the best films from up-and-coming international filmmakers.

Filmmakers of all nationalities have been invited to submit short films of any genre that give an insight into, or that have been made in, the towns, villages or rural communities of their country. This is not only a fantastic opportunity for filmmakers from the international community to reach a wider audience, but is also a chance for people across Cornwall to broaden their horizons and enjoy a diverse and exciting selection of films.
Films have been submitted from as far afield as Australia, Canada and the United States, as well as from Asian and European countries. Throughout September and October, the Cornwall Film Festival will present a selection of the best films in venues in Cornwall’s most remote areas, to ensure that everybody has the chance to enjoy this fantastic international screening.
Audiences will be asked to vote for their favourite films at each screening and the winner will be announced after the final screening at the Cornwall Film Festival, which takes place 13-15 November in Falmouth’s new cinema, The Phoenix. A cash prize of £1,000 will be awarded to the maker of the best film, courtesy of sponsor University College Falmouth.
The screenings will take place across Cornwall and start at 7:30pm. Ticket prices are £5 or £3 for students, seniors and unwaged. For more information on individual screenings, please contact the venue :
